High School Collective Bargaining Workshops

Upper Peninsula Labor-Management Council, Inc.

The U.P. Labor-Management Council, Inc. (UPLMC) conducts 8-10 workshops each school year.  These workshops are held in Escanaba, Hancock, Iron Mountain, and Marquette.

One of the Council's goals is to educate its young people -- the work force of tomorrow.  The Council has chosen this program as its primary education program.  Approximately 7000 students have attended this workshop since it was started in 1988.

Each student is assigned to a labor or management team.  The task of each team is to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement by the end of the session.  Each team is provided assistance from a coach.  Each coach is an individual who spends a great deal of their professional time in the collective bargaining arena.

For more information on the Council's High School Collective Bargaining Workshops or if you are interested in becoming a coach, contact the Council office at 906-399-8018 or email: jjohnson@uplmc.com.
